don't lie, you know you're a text addict -- not to mention you use all those nice apps you've downloaded. whether it be a Blackberry or an iPhone or something else, everyone's got a phone - face it, we can't really live without them now. connect to the world and text or call anyone just to talk or even annoy them when you're bored.

one of the most widely used and convenient ways of communication, everyone knows how to IM people. no matter which messenger client you prefer, it's handy on your phone or laptop if you're doing business or just have nothing to door and want to chat it up with a friend.

it's undeniable -- the growing phenomenon known as Twitter is pretty addicting. tweet what you're doing, where you are while you're on the go or even in class when your professor isn't looking, and use it to stalk keep up with people you know. just try not to tweetspam -too- much.

one of the biggest and first social networking sites, Myspace has become a ridiculous phenomenon over the last couple of years. sure, it's not as popular as some other sites that are now growing, but hey, it's still there and you know, people still use it for whatever reasons of finding new music, bulletin whoring, or amusement in general.

the more sophisticated social networking site by mark zuckerberg, facebook helps you keep in touch with people with the help of networks of your schools, jobs, and regions. nowadays, everyone's got one of these, too; nevermind that they keep changing their features and page layouts, at least they've got uno and farmville to take your attention away from class and homework.

actually seventh avenue, fashion avenue obtained its name for being the center point of the garment and fashion industry -- after all, the road goes through the garment district. it crosses along broadway and 42nd street at times square, and many landmarks such as carnegie hall, madison square garden, and penn station are located along the avenue.

as major as a major intersection can get, times square is the junction of broadway and seventh avenue. nicknamed the 'crossroads of the world,' it's a symbol of new york city, having achieved iconic status as a worldwide landmark. attracting millions of tourists every year, it's characterized by all its digital advertisements -- called 'spectaculars' or 'jumbotrons' -- and is home to many attractions like abc studios, virgin records, and both the hershey's & m&m's stores that are right across the street from each other.

843 acres is a lot. with more than twenty-five million annual visitors, central park is one of the major major major landmarks in new york city, the most visited city park in all of the united states. the area consists of several ponds and lakes, pathways for walking, natural woods...there is just so much to it, it's nature at it's best. the art students are usually here lounging or getting inspiration for their work. you can take carriage rides around here, it's one of the trademark attractions -- and in addition to being a spot that houses entertainment like the philharmonic and other festivals, the park also has a zoo and a garden.

yet another major landmark of the city, columbus circle is...well, it's a circle, obviously. the traffic circle is located at the intersection of broadway and at the southwest corner of central park, and around it the time warner center can be seen. that complex itself holds the shops at columbus circle, and the cnn headquarters -- so if you like, you can do a bit of high-end shopping.

day life. everything you can want to find in the city, reachable by just a walk down the long blocks and cross-walks. from coffee shops like your average starbucks or neighborhood favorite low-key shops and other places for dining and shopping, new york city has it all; you can just choose your destination.

one of the more prestigious prep schools in the city, it's exclusive to those who can afford it. well, mom and dad can pay for you, right? or if you're smart enough, you probably got a scholarship. either way, it's your typical prep school -- dorming if necessary and uniforms and all, not to mention a headmaster that strives for everyone's excellence and is overbearing to keep the school's reputation clean. unfortunately for him, teenagers will be teenagers, and those who roam the city after school are not immune to the alluring night life and scandals that could ensue.

with the main campus located in greenwich village, nyu is the largest institution of higher education in the whole country, with more than 50,000 students in attendance. it has the seventh largest university housing system and the largest amongst all the private colleges, and those students who live on campus know the city like the back of their hand.

with the campus taking up more than six city blocks in morningside heights, columbia university's campus is concealed in an architectural wonder, but it's a breathtaking campus when you enter. a member of the prestigious ivy league, students who attend columbia are some of the brightest, but even then they're not strangers to partying in the dorms or campus apartments, in addition to about 15% being affiliated with greek life.

more commonly known as FIT, the fashion institute of technology is part of the state university system of new york. founded in 1944, it's located in the chelsea portion of the city on 27th street and is a college of art, design, business, and technology. a lot of prominent designers and icons in the fashion industry have graduated from here -- can you make it big in the fashion capital like
them?
